It's all in the idea

The keys to ideation - for gamers

Sometimes it’s not the packaging

by Tomigames

I actually have very little to complain about with this thumbnail. It’s pretty clean, sure there’s some contrast issues, but it’s a well structured thumbnail

The title is a little sloppy too - but I’ve seen worse.

But I want to show you what difference an idea can make.

Same creator, same text.

It might be slightly better with contrast, but I’m still drawn more to the thumbnail above.

But look at that IDEA. How is it possible to beat any game without moving?

I don’t even know this game, but now I HAVE to click, otherwise I’ll never find out if it’s possible.

Another One

This time we’ll start with the better one, and why it works.

This is the FULL guide, meaning, I don’t have to waste my time with any other guides, videos, or breakdowns, this is going to tell me everything I NEED to know

Hard to beat the insane VALUE that includes, especially in just under 13 minutes.

Same text, slightly different thumbnail, and not even a 3rd of the views. Why?

The first video is about people who might be interested in the game.

The second video is for people who are already playing/are about to start playing.

This affects your TAM your Total Addressable Market.

TAM is what you think about when you are in the idea process. How many people can this possibly appeal to? (within your niche of course)

Creator’s Killing it.

You’re a skeptic. You want more proof that people are succeeding NOW in gaming on YouTube. Alright, twist my arm. Here ya go.

Key Takeaways

Bigger isn’t always better: A lot of people would benefit from all elements being a little larger in the thumbnail. But as you can see here what’s more important is the information conveyed. The text is still legible, because of the crisp clear backgrounds, all of the elements stand out, and people that play Brawl Stars will know exactly what they’re looking at

Part 1 Part 2: Look, these videos all did extraordinarily well. But if you’ll notice, (part 2) gets significantly less than part 1. This is almost always the case on YouTube. If you’re planning to do a series, and part 1 doesn’t break good numbers, the chances that the rest in the series will do well is VERY unlikely

IDEAS: Look - anytime you can do something for EVERY (character, thing, level, stage, gun) in a game it might be worth doing, especially if you can package it well, and it hasn’t been done, (or hasn’t been done a lot)

Creator Opportunity

What does the recent change in AI monetization have to do with you?

Every YouTube guru/teacher/channel right now

What does this mean?

Every YouTube space/guru/community is talking about AI demonitization. So what does this mean for you?

1) If you don’t create using AI - this is a great thing. This means that you might have less competition because now things can’t just be thrown onto the website without thought. It’s not going to lead to a huge increase in traffic, but every little bit helps

2) If you do create using AI - This likely isn’t talking about you, unless you create thoughtless AI garbage. This is not about AI voiceover, or AI implementation, this is about copyright infringement, and people reposting content that is repetitive/has no creative value. If you are making something that has real, tangible, creative value, then congrats - you’re safe.

3) we are still finding things out daily about the capacities of AI. Copyright law, international law, and fair use law have not been able to keep up with advancements. We should expect more to come out of YouTube and other platforms in the future, but this update is not bad news, and it’s not great news, it’s just news.

Would you do me a favor? If you know a gamer, or someone who likes to game, and is a bit lost on YouTube would you send them this? Thanks in advance!
